Anne Janzer is a prolific author and entrepreneur who is best known for her work in bringing insightful, accessible business literature to a wider audience. Born in San Francisco, Anne Janzer grew up in Philadelphia and New York in a family of entrepreneurs. Her father, who worked in the pharmaceutical industry, instilled her with the spirit of entrepreneurship. Janzer went on to attend Siena College, where she received a bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She quickly followed that up with a master’s degree in Library Science from Syracuse University.

Before becoming a full-time author, Janzer had a long and successful career in the corporate world. She held various positions in the tech industry as an employee of Microsoft, as well as a manager and director-level consultant in marketing and corporate communications. This experience gave her the necessary insight for her books and business writing.

Janzer’s professional writing began in 2004 when she started her blog, annejanzer.com. After gaining serious traction with her blog, she became a published author in 2011 with her first book, Writing to be Understood: How to Communicate Complex Information Simply. This book is a guide to better communication, teaching readers how to effectively manage and deliver content to their target audiences. Author and digital strategist Matthew Helland notes that this book “is a must-read for anybody struggling to make sense of the broken communication messaging they are delivering to their own audience.”

Janzer’s second book was Subscription Marketing: Strategies for Nurturing Customers in a World of Churn. This book takes an in-depth look into the new world of digital marketing and how companies can use subscription plan strategies to retain customers. The book’s insights have been praised for their effectiveness, with Forbes explaining that this book “clearly and effectively support[s] the promise at the heart of subscription marketing.”

In addition to her books, Janzer has written numerous articles and essays on topics like productivity, communication, reading, and innovation. She is also a frequent keynote speaker, delivering talks on her books’ topics as well as consulting with business leaders on how to best use technology for marketing and communication.

More recently, Anne Janzer has expanded her reach even further by joining Medium as a columnist. There, she regularly offers advice and talks about how to use its platform to engage with readers. Janzer has also created an email subscription course, Leveraging the Writing to Convert Reader to Customers, which is an eight-week program designed to help writers and professionals understand how to write Content that Converts.
