Anne Lamott is one of the most widely read, successful, and captivating authors of our time. Lamott was born in San Francisco, California on April 10, 1954. She was the daughter of an IBM sales executive who drank heavily and a mother who suffered from alcoholism and emotional problems. In her memoirs, Lamott speaks candidly about her parents’ struggles and their negative impacts on her childhood.

Despite a difficult upbringing, Lamott found solace in writing at a young age. After graduating from Cornell University with a degree in English in 1977, she moved to San Francisco to pursue a career in writing. She found success early on with her novel, Hard Laughter (1980), which was met with both commercial and critical success.

Throughout her career, Lamott has penned numerous works, with several becoming bestsellers. Her novels Blue Shoes (1995), Tour of Duty (1995), Imperfect Birds (2010), and Small Victories (2014) are all acclaimed for delivering heartfelt stories and creating unforgettable characters.
