Barry J. Nalebuff
Barry J. Nalebuff is a professor at Yale School of Management and the co-author of the acclaimed book, "Think Like an Entrepreneur, Act Like a CEO." While Nalebuff is best known for his work in game theory, economics, and business, his expertise spans many fields. From business strategy to public policy, he has made a name for himself as an innovator and thought leader.
Nalebuff was born in San Francisco, California in 1964. He attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in economics in 1985 and a Master's degree in management science and engineering in 1986. After graduating, he headed to Yale University, where he obtained a Ph.D. in economics in 1991.
Throughout his career, Nalebuff has published articles in The American Economic Review, The Journal of Economic Theory, and The RAND Journal of Economics. Initially, much of his work focused on game theory and economic behavior. In 1994, he co-authored the book Thinking Strategically, which quickly became a classic of corporate strategy and was a groundbreaking exploration of the influence of competition and incentives on business decision making.
Nalebuff is also the co-author of several other well-known books. In 2000, he and Michael Porter co-authored The Venue for Strategy Competition, which explores the use of game theory in strategic decision making. He also co-authored Motivate like a CEO, a book about building trust and responsibility in the workplace.
In 2021, Nalebuff's latest work was released, Think Like an Entrepreneur, Act Like a CEO. This book offers insights into how entrepreneurs can create successful companies grounded in research, measurement, and evaluation. It's considered a groundbreaking guide to help entrepreneurs take the lead in the change they want to see in their companies. With a book like this, Nalebuff continues to show that he is a thought leader in the business world.
In addition to teaching and researching, Nalebuff has also consulted or advised several leaders in entrepreneurship and business. Throughout the years, he has worked with major venture capital firms, business owners, and technology start-ups, as well as other organizations.
