Becky Bond
Becky Bond is an American author and consultant specializing in the fields of technology, politics, and social movements. She is the co-author of the bestselling book “Rules for Revolutionaries: How Big Organizing Can Change Everything” alongside Zack Exley. She is also the co-founder and president of Credo, an organization that helped to fuel the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign.
Bond grew up in Missouri on a small farm with a large extended family. From an early age, she was involved in politics and activism, organizing around issues of abortion rights, environmental justice, and civil rights. She cut her teeth in the world of politics while working on the John Kerry presidential campaign in 2004. It was during this time that she developed a deep interest in the use of technology to engage people and to further political causes.
In 2007, Bond co-founded the tech company Credo with Zack Exley. The company pioneered the kind of technology infrastructure typically used by corporations for political activism and campaigns. Through Credo, Bond helped to mobilize millions of people to fight for progressive causes, including marriage equality, the affordable health care act, and more.
In the summer of 2015, during the Democratic primary, Bond and her colleagues at Credo provided the technology that powered the Bernie Sanders presidential campaign. Over the course of the campaign, they helped to engage an unprecedented number of small-dollar donors and grassroots activists. In her time with the Sanders campaign, Bond developed a keen interest in how technology can enable people to engage in grassroots organizing and grow an effective grassroots movement.
In 2017, Bond and Exley wrote the bestselling book “Rules for Revolutionaries: How Big Organizing Can Change Everything.” In the book, Bond and Exley analyze the changing dynamics of the political world and offer practical advice for how to make effective use of the new technology-driven tools available to activists. It is their hope that their book will inspire new generations of activists and organizers to see the real power of grassroots organizing.
Bond has also been a contributor to several publications. Her articles and essays, which focus on technology and activism, have been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, and The Guardian. She has also appeared on television, radio, and podcasts as an expert on progressive politics and the power of technology to create impactful social change.
Bond is committed to using technology to empower people to create real and lasting change, and her work continues to challenge people to think differently about the role of technology in everyday life. Her work and her story are an inspiration to others to use technology to make a real difference in the world.
