Brad Stone is an acclaimed author of technology-focused non-fiction books. He went from being a student journalist to one of the most respected investigative reporters in Silicon Valley. He is well known for his influential coverage of major tech companies such as Amazon and Google.

The son of a lawyer and a social worker, Brad Stone was born in New York City in 1975. He grew up in California, attending Stanford University where he earned his BS in Political Science in 1997. After working for a handful of newspapers and magazines, Stone made the jump to online journalism in the early 2000s.

During this time, he focused on the rising players in Silicon Valley, like Uber, Airbnb and SpaceX, establishing himself as one of the most prominent tech reporters in the world. Most notably, he wrote about Amazon for Bloomberg News for several years and wrote a well-received book about its founder and CEO, Jeff Bezos.

Stone’s books are lauded for their thoroughness and depth. He invests heavily in research and interviews, traveling around the world to meet sources and even posing as an Amazon customer to better understand the company’s operations.

Stone’s most recent book, ‘The Upstarts’, looks at the remarkable success stories of the tech industry’s great disruptors, such as Airbnb and Uber. With his skillful reporting, Stone provides incisive descriptions of their operations and acknowledges the hard work and ambition it takes to change the world.

Other books by Stone include ‘The Everything Store’, a comprehensive look at Amazon and its culture, and ‘Search Inside Yourself’, a guide to mindful living with tips from some of the world’s most successful tech entrepreneurs, including Sergey Brin and Eric Schmidt.

In addition, Stone has published articles in The New Yorker, Wired, New York Times Magazine and elsewhere. His articles earned him recognition from the Society of Professional Journalists, along with the Loeb Award, a prestigious business journalism prize.

Stone still reports for Bloomberg News, and his books have been bestsellers. His cumulative work has earned him tremendous respect from readers and industry watchers alike, and done much to bring tech’s unique brand of disruption to the public’s attention.

On top of his books and writing, Stone also serves as executive producer and on-camera commentator for television shows such as ‘Frontline’, ‘Dawn of the tech Revolution’, and the documentaries ‘Freezes Frame’ and ‘Silicon Valley: The Rise of the Transhuman.’
