Brigid Schulte is an American Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, best-selling author, and director of the National Book Festival. Brigid has written for numerous newspapers and magazines, including The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, The Atlantic, The Los Angeles Times, and The International Herald Tribune.

Brigid Schulte graduated from Harvard University with a degree in American History. She went on to earn her Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University.

In 2007 , Brigid wrote her first book, The Overwhelmed: Work, Love, and Play in an Age of Too Much, which became a bestseller. This book delves into the concept of "time poverty" and offers advice on how to manage life’s many competing demands. The Overwhelmed is widely praised by readers and book reviewers alike, and has been published in several other countries.

In 2014, Brigid released her second book, Overwhelmed: How To Work, Love, and Play When No One Has The Time. This book seeks to help readers bring ease and pleasure back into their lives. Brigid hopes that her readers will be able to learn how to better prioritize daily activities, create and maintain meaningful relationships, and find freedom from the tyranny of a never-ending to-do list.

Brigid Schulte has been an advocate for the idea of leisure. She believes that an intensely busy and saturated lifestyle is not necessarily the key to success, and that people should strive to have a balance of leisure and productivity. The book argues that if people take the time to relax and do what they enjoy, they are more productive, healthier and happier.

Brigid has also written extensively on the subject of women’s roles. Her first book delves into the issues of gender imbalance in the workplace, while her second focuses on how to best manage the competing demands of work, love, and play. Brigid believes that it is possible for women to have it all, if they are judicious in their decision-making and are realistic about what is important in their lives.

Brigid Schulte has received numerous accolades for her work. In 2013, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Feature Writing for her article entitled “Stressed Out: The Overwhelmed American.” The article sought to explore the prevalence of stress and anxiety in the American workplace. She has also been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists, Society of Women Writers, and named to the Washingtonian Power 100.

In addition to her writing, Brigid is involved in a variety of other initiatives. Brigid serves as the Director of the National Book Festival and is a Fulbright Scholar teaching American Arts, Culture and Communication in France. She is also the founder and host of the weekly podcast “The Hurry Slowly Podcast,” in which she discusses the power of being “in the moment” and how to best manage the demands of everyday life.

Brigid Schulte is an incredibly accomplished and skilled journalist, author, and activist who is changing the world for the better. She inspires her readers to take charge of their lives, prioritize the things that are meaningful to them, and appreciate the beauty in moments of leisure.
