Carl Shapiro is one of the world’s most renowned and popular authors. These books featured enchanting characters, such as Rosen, a little runaway rabbit in the book “Rosen and the Rainforest” and Puddles, an adventurous little bear in “The Big Adventure of Puddles.” Shapiro also created beloved characters such as Norwood, a brave man on a quest to find a lost family heirloom, and Hoodwinked, a sadly neglected girl trying to find her place in the world. He was one of the first authors to write about the values of diversity, honesty, and kindness in his works for children.

In addition to his novels and stories, Carl Shapiro was also a prolific essayist and columnist. He wrote opinion pieces in the New York Times, Newsweek, and the Wall Street Journal and was a frequent guest on television talk shows and college campuses. He wrote extensively on issues such as famine relief, world peace, and societal inequality.
