Charlie Hoehn
Charlie Hoehn is an author, speaker, and entrepreneur who is known for his books on work-life balance and productivity. He is the author of two books, Play It Away: A Workaholic’s Cure for Anxiety and Recession Proof Graduate, as well as a contributing author in The Art of Nonconformity and Tribe Writers.
Hoehn grew up in Rapid City, South Dakota, and attended college at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After graduating, he worked in marketing for PodTech and then joined the San Francisco startup SceneIt. In 2008, he decided to take a break from the corporate world and go on a sabbatical. During this time, he visited five continents, documenting his journey on his travel blog.
Upon returning to the U.S., Hoehn decided to pursue his own entrepreneurial dreams and become a writer. During this period, he stumbled upon the works of Tim Ferriss and Seth Godin, which had a profound impact on him and his approach to work. His writings focus on the importance of taking breaks, managing your own career and journey, and finding balance in a fast-paced world.
In 2013, Hoehn released his first book, Play It Away: A Workaholic’s Cure for Anxiety. In this book, Hoehn shares his journey of overcoming anxiety and burnout through taking a break from his career. In 2016, Hoehn published his second book, Recession Proof Graduate.
