Doug McGuff
Doug McGuff is an author, an advocate of High-Intensity Training (HIT), and the co-creator of the nationally acclaimed exercise program Body By Science. He is a highly sought-after speaker and provides lectures, seminars, and workshops at universities, corporations, and private organizations around the world.
McGuff earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) from the University of Utah. He is board-certified in Emergency Medicine, and he has had hospitals, clinics, and physical therapy facilities throughout the United States.
McGuff published his first book, Body By Science: A Research Based Program for Strength Training, Body Building, and Complete fitness in 12 Minutes a Week in 2009. This became a NY Times Bestseller and has since been published in multiple countries and translated into multiple languages. In this book, McGuff argued for an approach of engaging in brief, but intense exercise sessions that he refers to as High-Intensity Training (HIT). This approach is based on research evidence that suggests that consistent bouts of intense exercise can be beneficial for your health and fitness level.
McGuff also published a second book in 2012, Body by Science: The Scientifically Proven Program to Improve Muscle, Fitness and Health One 12 Minute Workout at a Time. In this book, McGuff solidified his findings and theories from the first book and added a wide range of exercises to his program. This book also challenged the current approaches to exercising and provided clear direction on how to do it correctly.
McGuff’s most recent book is SuperSlow: The Ultimate Exercise Protocol The Slowest Way to Get Fit and Healthy in Maximum 12-Minutes Workouts. This book offers specific instruction on how to perform the SuperSlow exercise protocol. This protocol emphasizes controlled, low intensity movements, and takes about two to three minutes for each exercise. The book also provides information on how to use other forms of exercise, how to construct a balanced routine, and how to add variety to the exercise program.
In addition to his books, McGuff also produces educational and motivational audio CDs, including Into The Zone Achieving Peak Performance, Transformational Exercise, and The Longevity Paradox Exploring the Secrets of a Long, Healthy Life. He also has regular appearances as a fitness advisor on the radio and television.
McGuff’s theories have been adopted by many professional athletes. His methods have also been proven to be effective by scientific studies and a number of research groups. In general, McGuff’s writings and his work have offered very comprehensive and effective ways to improve fitness and health. His views have also been praised by fellow fitness experts, such as Craig Ballantyne and Tony Horton. McGuff’s books and lecture circuit have made him one of the most influential fitness experts of our time. He continues to write, to lecture, and to teach people about how to stay healthy, fit, and strong through effective High-Intensity Training.
