Elizabeth H. Bradley
Elizabeth H. Bradley is an American author who has written extensively on a variety of topics, including landscape architecture and horticulture, ecology, sustainable development and urban growth, social justice, and feminism. She has written numerous books, journal articles, and reports that explore the relationship between people and their environment, and how these dynamics can be improved to create sustainable and fulfilling societies.
Elizabeth H. Bradley was born in Utica, New York in 1950. She graduated from Brown University with an B.A. in Philosophy, and then went on to receive her M.S. in Urban Planning and Urban Design from Columbia University in 1975. She has held a variety of academic posts, including fellowships from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the American Council of Learned Societies, and the Rockefeller Foundation. She is currently a professor of Landscape Architecture at Harvard University.
Elizabeth H. Bradley has written extensively on landscape architecture and horticulture, ecology, sustainable development, and urban growth. In 2004, she edited a book entitled Garden as Ensemble: Integrated Design in the Landscape, in which she and other authors examine the effects of the built environment on community and ecology. In 2014, she wrote Women and Social Movements in the United States, 1600-2000, which takes an in-depth look at the vital role women have played in shaping the history of the United States. She has also written extensively on race and gender in the context of eco-tourism and agricultural development. Her book, Politics of the Landscape: Creating Love, Building Power (2013), is an examination of land and its impact on people, culture, and communities.
Elizabeth H. Bradley has written extensively on topics that challenge traditional thinking on how the environment can be managed sustainably.
