Erin Morgenstern is a bestselling American author whose literary works have been celebrated for their magical storytelling, intricate style, and enchanting characters. Erin was born in Massachusetts in 1979 and grew up in the Boston suburb of Newton. Though she had a lifelong love of reading and literature, she attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, receiving degrees in film and video production in 2001. During her time there, she developed a passion for performing arts and was involved in numerous theatrical performances and improvisation classes. After this, she moved back to New England and continued to write, crafting plays and developing stories, while also working in carpentry, fabric manipulation and theater management.

The Night Circus, which was published in 2011, became one of her greatest successes. The novel revolves around two magicians, Celia and Marco, competing in a mysterious circus called Le Cirque des Rêves (The Circus of Dreams). The tale weaves together nostalgic romance, childhood board games, and an ever-moving tent, resulting in an otherworldly adventure.

In addition to The Night Circus, Erin has published two other books: The Starless Sea and The Kronos Notebook. The Starless Sea was released in 2019, 10 years after The Night Circus, and tells the story of Zachary Ezra Rawlins, a graduate student who finds a strange book opening the door to a mysterious subterranean library and the secrets of his own past. The Kronos Notebook, published in 2020, is set in the world of The Starless Sea as it follows two estranged brothers fighting to save their magical island home.

Erin’s work has been acclaimed by fans and critics alike, winning multiple awards - including the Los Angeles Times Book Prize for fiction - and enlisting on bestseller lists for both The Night Circus and The Starless Sea. She has also been featured in numerous publications, from prestigious literary magazines such as Granta and The Paris Review to newspapers like The New York Times, Guardian, and The Washington Post; and on television programs and podcasts.
