Gaurav Suri
Gaurav Suri is an acclaimed Indian author who has translated works from various Indian language texts into English for a global audience. Suri's ability to bridge the gap between Indian culture and its literature with the rest of the world has made him an internationally renowned writer.
Suri was born and raised in Ahmedabad, India, where he attended the University of Gujarat. Suri's first translated book was the libretto “Rasaranjini” by Tagore in 1967, which has since become an international bestseller. Since then, Suri has translated various works of Indian literature into English.
Suri is also well-known for his writings, both fiction and non-fiction. His works focus on elements of Indian culture and history, particularly as it pertains to the arts and literature. He has written books on topics ranging from India's first novel to the various forms of Indian music. He has also written extensively on topics such as gender and religion, both from Indian and international perspectives.

In addition to his work in literature, Suri is also an accomplished artist and painter. He has been the recipient of many awards, including the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1985 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2000, both for his important contribution to Indian culture and literature.
In 2019, Suri was recognized by the India Council for Cultural Relations with the International Award for Literature. This award honors those authors and writers who have taken an active role in promoting cultural exchange between India and the rest of the world.
