Gay Hendricks is an author, speaker, and visionary who has had an influential and wide-reaching impact on modern spirituality. Born in 1945 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Hendricks has authored or co-authored over 40 books, all of which focus on fostering personal, professional, and spiritual growth. Through his work, Hendricks has helped countless people tune into their own inner wisdom and create meaningful, powerful changes in their lives.

Hendricks initially developed an interest in psychology while studying at Stanford University in the 1960s. After completing his bachelor's degree, he went on to earn a PhD in counseling psychology at the University of Colorado. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Hendricks taught at the University of Colorado, and then eventually opened the Hendricks Institute.

At the Hendricks Institute, Hendrick's focus was on teaching people how to be fully present in their lives. He understood and highlighted the importance of having a connection with oneself and others in order to live healthy, fulfilling and meaningful life. These fundamental aspects of self-awareness, relationships, being present and conscious continue to be the foundation of his work. With this foundation, Hendricks concluded that individuals can access their own inner wisdom and guidance, which he dubs “The Zone”.

Hendricks has applied this zone theory to many aspects of modern life. He has developed a system for helping couples reach the zone with their partner, which he calls "Conscious Coupling". Hendricks has adapted his methods to the workplace as well, propelling energy and communication improvement among managers and teams with Conscious Business.

Hendricks has also written many books dedicated to the topics of personal growth and transformation. One of his most notable, The Big Leap, details the impact of limiting beliefs on one's life and explains how to identify and overcome them. It has appeared on the New York Times Best Seller list and has been translated into 23 languages. His other books include Five Wishes, The First Rule of Ten, The Big Leap Conquer the Seven Hidden Fears That Sabotage Success, and The Conscious Heart.

In addition to his books, Hendricks has also made a significant impact in the field of music. His collaboration with musician Kris Carr resulted in the spiritual album Peaceful Heart. Similarly, his wife, Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks, wrote and explained the various techniques used in music therapy for improving lives.

Hendrick’s accomplishments have led to many honors and awards. He has received Nautilus Awards for books such as The Big Leap and Five Wishes., and the Institute for Noetic Sciences Pioneer Award in 2009. Hendricks has also been featured in publications such as O the Oprah Magazine, Psychology Today, and Good Morning America.
