Coming from a mathematics and computer science background, Graeme Simsion began his career as a systems consultant in 1979. This interest soon turned into the system theory and game theory foundations that would come to characterise his first novel.

Throughout subsequent years, Graeme Simsion became an award-winning screenwriter, composer and playwright. In 1995, he wrote and performed the musical comedy Another Fine Mess, which was also adapted as a movie in 1998. It was this success that prompted him to become a full-time creative artist and pursue his writing career further.

Graeme Simsion’s first novel, The Rosie Project, was first released in 2013. The novel soon went viral, selling over five million copies worldwide, and spawning a feature film adaptation of the same name. The novel tells the story of Don Tillman, a university professor with Asperger’s Syndrome, who embarks on the 'Wife Project' – a quest to find a wife using scientific methods and strict selection criteria. Along the way, Don discovers the beauty of human connection and learns to embrace life's most unexpected gifts.

Since the success of The Rosie Project, Graeme Simsion has gone on to publish four further books. These include the follow-up to The Rosie Project – The Rosie Effect – and two standalone comedies, The Best Of Adam Sharp and The View From Currawong Reach. All of these books feature a mix of wit, whimsy and heart, telling modern stories of people from all walks of life trying to make sense of their circumstances.

Throughout his career, Graeme Simsion has won multiple awards, including the Australian Book Industry Award (ABIA) for General Fiction Book of the Year in 2013. In 2019, he also won a Ned Kelly Award – Australia’s most prestigious crime fiction accolade – for his novel The Falls.
