Greta Thunberg

Greta Thunberg is a Swedish teenage environmental activist who first drew attention to the issue of climate change when she wrote a school strike sign and posted it on Twitter in August 2018. Since then she has become a global icon for environmental activism, leading schools and environmental strikes, as well as speaking before world leaders at conferences and other forums. Her climate change activism has earned her numerous awards and recognition, including being named a Time Magazine's Person of the Year in 2019.

Greta was born in Sweden in 2003, the daughter of the actors Malena Ernman and Svante Thunberg. Throughout her childhood, she was passionate about the environment and regularly spoke up about her concerns to her parents. At eight years old, Greta was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and struggled with the diagnosis for the following years, which explains in part her fierce determination and advocacy.

Greta first rose to prominence for her climate change activism in August 2018, when she wrote a speech in which she declared her intention to hold a school strike in order to pressure Swedish government officials to implement climate change legislation. This speech was posted on Twitter and it quickly gained attention, prompting Greta to launch her "Fridays for Future" movement and to hold demonstrations outside the Swedish parliament every week.

The movement quickly gained traction and began to spread across the globe. Greta has since held protests and strikes in numerous countries around the world, including the U.K., France, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, the U.S.A., and Canada. In addition, she has given numerous speeches before world leaders, including before the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Katowice in December 2018.

In March 2019, Greta was invited to join the Extinction Rebellion campaign, which called for direct action from individuals to pressure governments in tackling climate change. She then took part in a direct action protest in London alongside many other members of the organisation. In April of the same year, Greta was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year. In addition, she has been awarded with the Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience Award and the Right Livelihood Award.

More recently, Greta Thunberg has written two books: ‘Scenes from the Heart’ and ‘No One Is Too Small To Make A Difference’. The former is a collection of her personal reflections and writing over the years, while the latter is a collection of her speeches and thoughts on climate change and the environment. Both books incorporate her core message: “We all have the power to make a difference, no matter how small or insignificant it might seem.” The books have been extremely popular with young people all over the world, inspiring them to take action to help create a better future.

In conclusion, Greta Thunberg is a remarkable teenage environmental activist, who has become an icon of climate change advocacy. Through her activism she has not only raised awareness to the issue of global warming, but has also inspired a whole generation of young people to take action in order to help create a better future. Her bravery, determination, and passion have earned her numerous awards and recognition, and her books are an inspiring testament to her message and commitment to fighting climate change.
