Guy Raz

Guy Raz is a renowned author and national radio and podcast host who tells stories about the people and forces reshaping the world. His work has been featured in The New York Times Magazine, The Atlantic, CNN, and The Washington Post, among other outlets. His books, which contain summaries of a wide range of topics, have sold millions of copies worldwide.

Raz was born in Tel Aviv, Israel and grew up in Jerusalem. He worked as a correspondent for the Israeli paper, Haaretz, before he moved to the United States in his early 20’s. In the United States, he attended both Stanford University and Northwestern University. Additionally, Raz has worked as a radio host and producer at National Public Radio (NPR) from 2008 to 2015. During his time at NPR, he has produced and hosted notable programs such as TED Radio Hour and How I Built This with Guy Raz.

Raz’s writing style is descriptive, with his books often containing stories about real people and the impact their decisions had on the world. Such books include 'Cybersecurity for Everyone', which explores the threats we face in the modern digital world and provides advice on how to protect ourselves from them. Raz’s latest bestselling book focuses on the power of meditation as a way of calming the mind, reducing stress, and finding peace. Titled 'The Way of the Mindful' it explores how mindfulness and contemplative practices—such as meditation, breath work, and self-reflection—can make a difference in one’s life. The book includes Raz’s personal stories and anecdotes as well as advice from Buddhist monks, yogis, and other experts in the field of wisdom traditions.

Raz also has an app-based venture that won Google’s Global Impact Challenge. The ‘Wisdom on Demand’ app helps people find peace, reduce anxiety and stress, and live a better life. The app offers on-demand access to guided meditations, mindfulness practices, and educational resources.

In 2019, Raz was honored with the Webby Award for his work in podcasts. Additionally, Raz is a former TED fellow and a recipient of the Peabody Award for excellence in broadcasting.
