The Dance of Anger was an instant success and went on to become a bestseller. It drew praise from both critics and fans alike, and was followed soon after by her 1989 book The Dance of Intimacy. This book was also a success and positioned Harriet Lerner as a prominent author in the field of psychology and psychiatry.
