Henry Timms
Henry Timms is an award-winning New York Times best-selling author and a leader in the field of philanthropy and civic engagement. He is the co-author of the global sensation New Power, as well as the author of the widely acclaimed books, Give and Take and Leap of Reason. With each work, he has drawn from his decades of experience in the nonprofit and philanthropic world, focusing on how social impact can be achieved through the use of new tools, strategies, and engaging approaches.
Since 2003, Timms has worked to expand the understanding of social and ethical issues, connecting people and causes, and inspiring our global community to create positive change.
Born and raised in the United Kingdom, Timms studied law at the University of Oxford before beginning a career focused on improving the world through public service and education.
With a passion for fostering social innovation, Timms has held positions at both the nonprofit and corporate sectors in roles related to economic and social change.
His first book, Give and Take, released in 2013, was the result of his experience honing donor philosophies among leading nonprofits and major foundations. In addition to his role as a global advocate, Timms is also the co-founder of #GivingTuesday, an annual global day of generosity, and currently serves as the president and CEO of The 92nd Street Y, a multifaceted NYC cultural center.
