With over 40 years of wanderlust adventures and sailing experience, Jimmy Cornell’s experience in the sailing world is vast and incomparable.

Jimmy Cornell’s sailing adventure began in 1977, on an Earth Round Voyage, sailing around the world with his family aboard a 38-foot sailboat. It was this voyage that inspired Jimmy Cornell to write his first book Blue Voyage, giving an in-depth look at the sailing life.

The following year, 1979, Jimmy Cornell took on an even greater feat: sailing around the world alone. This act inspired Cornell’s second book, Single-Handed Sailing: A Practical Introduction, which dedicated chapters to cruising, practical navigation and boat maintenance.

In the 1980s, Jimmy wrote several more books on sailing, yachting and cruising, furthering his knowledge and reaching out to the sailing world. With a great amount of success to boot, Jimmy’s career as a successful sailing and travel writer has reached its peak in the past few decades.

Jimmy Cornell currently resides in Spain and continues to write about his ongoing adventures and exploring new landscapes and locations. His latest book, Out of the Majors, focuses on adding sailing adventure to people’s lives, while still continuing to take the safety and practicality of sailing seriously.

Apart from his writing contributions, the prominent British cruiser and author, Jimmy Cornell, has founded The Amazing Sailor Award in international recognition of young seafarers up to the age of 20, particularly those who tackle major challenges alone or in small crews.
