Jocko Willink
Jocko Willink is an author, podcast host, and former Navy SEAL who has gained a wide following for his books and podcasts about leadership, discipline, and personal development. He is a New York Times bestselling author and best-known for his books Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win, Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual, and The Dichotomy of Leadership: Balancing the Challenges of Extreme Ownership.
Born in 1971 in Torrance, California, Jocko Willink moved to a small town in New Jersey at the age of eight and later attended the local high school. After graduating, he joined the Navy and after four years as an enlisted man, attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a Navy SEAL in 1994.
Willink quickly rose in the ranks and after completing deployments to different parts of the world he became the commanding officer of SEAL Team Three’s Task Unit Bruiser, a group of men which Willink led to remarkable success during the Iraq war. His stunning achievement while leading these operators earned him numerous awards, including the Silver Star.
After his time in the Navy, Willink decided to use his experience to help others with the guidance and mentorship he offers. He has written and published multiple books about seeking advice and has appeared on notable podcasts and TV shows such as Joe Rogan Experience, Art of Manliness, and The David Goggins Show.
