John Cary
John Cary is an award-winning author of children’s books and young adult fiction. His work spans multiple genres, from science fiction to drama. He is known for his vivid characters and strong sense of storytelling. Together, these traits have made his books popular with a wide range of readers.
Cary was born in Santa Monica, California, and attended the University of California, Santa Cruz. He has had a career in editorial and magazine writing, and has also taught college-level writing classes. Besides his own writing, he is a founding editor of the literary journal, Tin House, which focuses on innovative fiction and poetry.
In 2000, Cary published his first book, Invention, which was the first of a trilogy of science fiction novels. The books follow the story of an independent robot with a conscience, as it searches for a place in the human world. The series was well-received and won the Nebula Award for Science Fiction in 2009.
