John Eldredge

John Eldredge is one of the most influential and respected Christian authors of our day. His best-selling books on topics such as spiritual transformation and personal growth have touched millions of lives and inspired countless people to live lives in accordance with God's plan.

John Eldredge was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1957 to missionaries who had emigrated from Britain. From childhood, he was immersed in a spiritually vibrant culture, constantly surrounded by people of deep faith. He attended college at the University of Arkansas, majoring in theater arts and drama. It was while at college that he became a born-again Christian, a formative moment which changed the course of his life forever.

Eldredge was eventually ordained as a pastor in 1981, and for the next ten years served as an associate pastor for several churches. During this time, he developed an interest in spiritual formation and helped hundreds of people discover a deeper, more meaningful relationship with God. In 1992, he became the director of Ransomed Heart Ministries (RHM), an organization focused on promoting spiritual transformation through the development of transformational practices.

Throughout the 1990’s and 2000’s, Eldredge released some of his most well-known books, such as “Wild at Heart” and “Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman’s Soul”. Through these books, he explored topics such as spirituality, grace, and masculinity.

Eldredge also started writing more personal books, as well as books focused on collective transformation. “The Sacred Romance” was released in 1995 and is considered one of his defining works. In it, he outlines a unique approach to spiritual formation that combines biblical truths with psychological observations.

In 2008, Eldredge started his own conference and podcast series, titled “Ransomed Heart Live.” The podcast has featured guests such as Alan Hirsch, John Ortberg, and Tony Campolo, speaking to topics such as the power of prayer, spiritual transformation, and the importance of community.

Eldredge’s books continue to be bestsellers and his lectures are widely attended by people of all walks of life. Today, he lives with his wife Stasi and their three sons in Colorado Springs, where they are actively involved in the local church and Ransomed Heart Ministries.

Eldredge’s work has been revolutionary in terms of how we think about spiritual life and growth. He is beloved by many for his willingness to explore what it means to be a follower of Christ and to live a life of intentional discipleship.
