John Grillo

John Grillo is an acclaimed author of novels, non-fiction, essays and short stories. He has written over twenty books, many of which have received critical acclaim. Grillo has been featured in various publications, including the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times, and was a finalist for the Booker Prize in 2001 for his novel The Hall of Small Miracles. Born in 1963 in London, England, Grillo was raised by a single mother, who he describes as his “inspiration and teacher.”

Although Grillo began writing as a child, he didn’t become serious about his passion until the age of twenty-three, when he moved to New York City to pursue an education at Sarah Lawrence College. Shortly after, he completed his first novel, The Hall of Small Miracles. His second novel, The Cave of Unknowing, was met with increasing critical acclaim.

Additionally, Grillo has written several short stories. These include In the Cemetery, which explores a father’s love for his children, even during the most difficult of times; and My Mother’s Ashes, which tells of a woman’s determination to remain strong through difficult times. Other works include The Linden Street Mystery, a suspenseful tale about a small town’s dark secret; and The Pocketful of Rain, a story about a man’s longing for a home.
