Joseph D'Agnese

Joseph D’Agnese is a well-known journalist, editor, and author whose books have captivated readers for decades. From non-fiction tomes about scientific breakthroughs or controversial topics to light-hearted, delightful children’s books, D’Agnese has written it all. With a passionate and experienced voice, D’Agnese engages readers in his stories, leaving them wanting more.

Joseph D’Agnese was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1958, and grew up in Washington Heights before moving to Long Island. He studied English at Adelphi University and soon after decided to pursue a career in publishing. His first job was at the Random House adult trade book division, helping to edit full-length books by talented authors. During his time there, D’Agnese edited the hefty tomes of Malcolm X and a biography of Babe Ruth.

In the early 1990s, D’Agnese made the move to writing his own books. He started with a non-fiction exposé of the American Dietetic Association’s role in the promotion of fad diets and the growth of dietary supplement companies and shifted his focus to include fiction and children’s books as well. He has since published nine books, mostly nonfiction, which have become staples in libraries and bookstores across the country.

The first book published under D’Agnese’s name was a non-fiction account of the science and industry of dietary supplements, Going All the Way: How One Woman “Cured” Her Incurable Disease with Dietary Supplements in 1992. But it was his controversial 1997 nonfiction book, Eating For Life, that truly gave D’Agnese recognition for his writing. Eating for Life delved into the dangers of processed foods, highlighting the links between diets high in fast food, snacks and sugary treats, and the risk of obesity, heart disease, and even cancer.

In 2003, D’Agnese returned to his storytelling roots with his debut novel, Cake Balls. The book tells the story of two estranged lovers that reconnect when they are hired to run a swanky coffee shop in New York City. The story was well-received and became a best seller seen in major bookstores.

It was in 2012 that D’Agnese began to write books for children. His first children’s book, Rudie Fails at Everything, was about a young boy learning to conquer his fears and insecurities. Since then, D’Agnese has penned three other children’s books including his most recent one, Pigs Do It Too: Adventures at the Farm. In each of his books for children, D’Agnese crafts delightful stories that make readers laugh out loud while teaching valuable lessons.

Joseph D’Agnese’s books have won numerous awards, including an Outstanding Book Award from the Educational Press Association of America. He currently resides in New York with his wife and five children. While he’s often found penning stories for magazines nationwide or researching for his next book, D’Agnese also finds enjoyment in teaching creative writing classes at The Writing Institute in Westchester.

With his finger firmly on the pulse of the publishing industry, Joseph D’Agnese has become an icon in his own right. His books have sold millions of copies worldwide, and readers everywhere have come to rely on his intelligent, yet easy-to-understand voice to provide them with engaging stories no matter the topic. From non-fiction to children’s books, D’Agnese’s works always bring a unique and entertaining perspective.
