Joyce Meyer is an internationally known author who reaches an audience of over 20 million people worldwide. Born in 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri, Joyce Meyer has touched the lives of individuals around the world through her extensive writing and prolific speaking engagements. Meyer has written over 70 self-help and spiritual books and has spread her words of hope and inspiration through her daily radio broadcast, television shows and conferences. Meyer’s childhood was difficult and tumultuous. Her father was an abusive alcoholic and her mother suffered depression and mental illness. Meyer only completed ninth grade and was married by that time. After her first marriage ended, she remarried and had four children. At the age of 40, Meyer converted to Christianity and began to pursue a career in ministry. She was ordained as a pastor in 1976 and soon began to minister at her church in St. Louis. Her ability to communicate complicated spiritual concepts in an easily digestible format led her ministry to grow and soon she began to speak to larger audiences.

In 1988, Meyer started her own ministry and began to broadcast her daily radio show, Enjoying Everyday Life. Today, Meyer’s broadcast reaches close to two million listeners. The University of North Carolina conducted a study and discovered that 92 percent of listeners who responded to a survey stated that they had experienced spiritual growth as a result of listening to Meyer’s program.

Along with her speaking and ministry, Meyer has been a prolific author. Many of her books focus on spiritual struggles and how readers can overcome them by relying on the power of God. In some of her most widely read works, Meyer uses personal stories to illustrate how those in need should turn to God for guidance.
