Following this success, May released her second novel, The Earth Is Singing, in 2020. This book follows the story of the Davis family, set in a sleepy village in the Welsh mountains. Through the family’s experiences, May explores themes of identity and belonging, and how far people will go to protect the ones they love. The novel was a commercial success and won several awards, including the Waterstones Book of the Month Award and the Sunday Times Bestseller List.
In 2021, May released her first work of non-fiction, The Bubble. This book uses her personal experience of being a working parent to explore how social bubbles can be a source of freedom and joy.
