Larry King

Larry King is an internationally renowned American talk show host, columnist, author, and radio personality whose career in journalism has spanned more than 60 years. Born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1933 he began working in radio in 1957, and when his syndicated talk radio show debuted in 1978 he quickly became a household name. He hosted the popular television show "Larry King Live" from 1985 to 2010, and he starred in Larry King Now and Political Opinion with Larry King on the web channel Ora.tv. In addition to his broadcasting success, King is also an author and columnist whose decades of experience in the news and entertainment industries have earned him recognition as one of the world’s premier journalists.

Over the course of his career, King has written more than 20 books on a wide range of topics, including politics, religion, and journalism. His memoir, “My Remarkable Journey,” was published in 2010 and gives readers an intimate look into the life and career of one of the most influential personalities in media history. His follow-up book, “Truth Be Told: Off the Record about Favorite Guests, Memorable Moments, Funniest Jokes, and a Half Century of Asking Questions,” was released in 2015 and features facts and stories about some of his most memorable guests and experiences.

King has also written several novels. His first novel, “The Beautiful Lady,” was published in 2004, and a thriller titled “Muslim on a Mission” was published a year later. In addition, he has also authored two books with his grandchildren, “Larry King's Families First: Advice for Grans, Grandpas, Moms, Dads and Kids of All Ages,” and “Grandpa Larry's Christmas Tale.” All of King’s books are filled with the knowledge and insight that have made him one of the most widely recognized and respected names in media.

In addition to writing books, King has also penned numerous newspaper articles and periodical pieces. He has written for publications including The New York Post, People Magazine, Huffington Post, and The Washington Post. His columns for USA Today have been collected into two books, “How to Talk to Anyone, Anytime, Anywhere: The Secrets of Good Communication” and “How to Love Life and Make It Last Forever.” In these books, King reveals the advice he’s been giving interviewees, guests, and readers since his earliest days in broadcasting.

Aside from his work as an author and journalist, King has received numerous awards and accolades over the years. He has been awarded the Sylvania Award, 11 Cable ACE Awards, two Peabody Awards, two NAACP Image awards, and a Webby Lifetime Achievement Award. He has also been inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame and is the recipient of the 2017 CFR/Future of Journalism Award.

In recognition of his influence and success in journalism, Larry King has been immortalized in several media outlets. His likeness was featured in the video game “Grand Theft Auto: Vice City,” and films featuring his likeness include “Miss Congeniality” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.” King was also the subject of a 2018 documentary titled “Ask Larry King,” which examines the legendary broadcaster’s life and career as well as his transition from print media to broadcast media.

With a successful career spanning six decades, Larry King remains one of the most respected journalists in the world. His written works and columns are testimony to his dedication to the field of journalism, and his enduring influence continues to inform and inspire readers and viewers today.
