Matthieu Ricard

Matthieu Ricard is an internationally recognized author, photographer, and Buddhist monk. Ricard has published 15 books in 12 languages, and his latest work, "The Art of Meditation" has been nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in Philosophy. Born in France, Ricard is the son of celebrated French philosopher, novelist, and painter Jean-François Revel. He received a degree in molecular genetics from Pierre et Marie Curie University in Paris and a doctorate in cell genetics from the Pasteur Institute in 1973.

Ricard has devoted his life to translating and interpreting Tibetan Buddhist texts and teachings. He has been the French interpreter for the Dalai Lama since 1989. He is also the official representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Europe and India.

Ricard's work is centered on the concept of mindfulness. His writings and teachings focus on the cultivation of inner peace and happiness. In his works, he presents meditation, which is the cornerstone of Buddhism, as a pathway to inner balance and a more peaceful and harmonious lifestyle. Ricard's works have been met with great acclaim. In 2003, "The Quantum and the Lotus" was chosen as one of the Top 10 Science Books by US News and World Report. The book was also featured in the World Science Festival in New York City.

Ricard is a highly sought-after speaker and lecturer. He has appeared on international television and radio, including National Geographic and Discovery Channel. He has given speeches at universities, conferences both international and national, and has also been invited as a keynote speaker at a variety of events including the World Economic Forum.
