Michael Eric Dyson
Michael Eric Dyson is an accomplished and influential American author and scholar, known particularly for his writings in popular culture, race relations and religion. He has made his mark on the literary world through his numerous books, public speaking engagements, and media appearances.
Born an only child to a single mother in Detroit, Michigan, in 1958, Dyson grew up in poverty and dropped out of school at an early age. However, Dyson wasn't discouraged about his future, and he got his GED, graduated high school, and went on to attend Carson-Newman College. Later, he attended the University of Michigan where he earned his masters and doctorate degrees.
