Mo Rocca

Mo Rocca is a famed writer, comedian, and author who has written extensively about popular culture in books, magazine articles, and television shows. Mo has written five books, two of which were New York Times Best Sellers and four of which have been optioned for television projects by major networks such as NBC and CBS. He is a three-time winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor.

Rocca was born in Washington, D.C., to a Cuban American father and a Slovak American mother. Growing up in a mixed cultural background, Rocca was drawn to comedy and entertainment at an early age. He attended Harvard University, where he wrote for the Harvard Lampoon and graduating with a degree in English and American Literature. His first job was at the National Geographic Channel and was followed by stints at NBC, MSNBC, CBS, and Comedy Central. Rocca also worked as a freelance writer and contributed to The New Yorker, The Atlantic Monthly, and The Washington Post.

Rocca's breakthrough came when he co-created the television show "The Station" for CBS. His writing style is humorous and witty, and he often skewers pop culture in his writing. In 2005, he wrote his first book, a satirical look at the current political culture entitled All the President's Pets. It went on to become a New York Times Best Seller and was optioned for a television series by NBC. His second book, Viva Small: How Pedro de Pacas Delivers El Correo to the Tiny Town of El Pueblo was also a New York Times Best Seller and was optioned by CBS.

Rocca also wrote a book about his own family entitled My Crimean Wedding, which was an even bigger success than his previous works. Following that, he released a memoir of his life growing up in a mixed cultural family called Look Who's Back Again. Again, this book went on to be optioned for a television show. Mo Rocca's latest book, Mobituaries: Great Lives Worth Reliving, was jointly released in 2019 and is a humorous exploration of lesser-known historical figures.

Rocca is also well-known for his frequent appearances on national television and radio shows. He is a frequent guest on CNN, MSNBC, and CBS, and he has also been a contributor to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and The Atlantic Monthly. He regularly appears on The Daily Show and @midnight, and has even had his own podcasts called "Unnecessary Knowledge" and "The Great Dictators of Comedy". He was also a contestant on Season 11 of The Great Celebrity Bake Off.
