Morton A. Meyers is an internationally acclaimed author, researcher, and speaker who focuses on the intersection of mindfulness, Eastern philosophies, and neuroscience. Over the past thirty years, he has written thirteen books, produced multiple CD and video series, and has been the subject of numerous magazine, radio and television interviews. He has devoted the last two decades to exploring the integration of mindfulness, contemplative practices, emotion regulation, neuroscience and modern science from a practical perspective.

Meyers has developed a unique approach to personal well-being based on his extensive research and in-depth studies in mindfulness and Eastern philosophies, as well as his commitment to practice what he teaches. His approaches to wellbeing are accompanied by evidence-based strategies and actions tailored to modern life.

Meyers was born in Chicago, Illinois and was raised in a household with Eastern philosophy. He began his studies of mindfulness, contemplation, and eastern wisdom in 1990 through Zen Buddhism. This practice led him to the work of J. Krishnamurti, a spiritual leader and philosopher who was the central teacher of Eastern philosophy, and J. Krishnamurti’s book, The Mind of J. Krishnamurti, which he read and studied.

Meyers completed two graduate degrees in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2005 and 2007. During this time, he continued to deepen his studies of Eastern philosophy, mindfulness and contemplative practices. After completing his graduate degrees, he relocated to Hawaii where he began teaching and creating retreats, which were all grounded in the knowledge and practices of his academic and spiritual studies.

Meyers has published thirteen books that address various topics relating to contemporary living, mindfulness and consciousness. His books, such as The Art of Being Mindful, The Mindfulness Code and Be Moved, aim to bring the science behind being mindful and conscious to a broader audience. In addition to his books, Meyers has created multiple CD and DVD series, as well as facilitated retreats, that have been devoted to bringing the insights and tools of mindfulness to the forefront of people’s daily lives.

Meyers is currently a distinguished professor at the University of Hawaii, where he focuses on Consciousness Studies. He has been a frequent speaker at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, the Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, the University of Hawaii, the Omega Institute, and Google.

Through his work, Meyers conveys the need for an integration of modern science and Eastern philosophy in creating paths of wellbeing. He seeks to deeply explore the root cause of distress and suffering and endeavors to help people find paths to restoring their minds and bridging their perception of the world. Meyers advocates for mindfulness practice as a means of developing sustainable contentment and joy in our lives.
