Neil Strauss
Neil Strauss is an acclaimed author who has written books about relationships, sex, dating and the pursuit of power. He is best known for his 2005 book “The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists.” Strauss is credited with popularizing the pickup artist field, which had previously been a largely confidential and underground phenomenon.
Neil Strauss was born in 1974 in Illinois. He was raised in a Jewish household. As a young adult, Strauss struggled to form meaningful relationships, which inspired him to write “The Game” and to pursue a career as a writer and relationship instructor.
In “The Game,” Strauss recounts his experiences joining the Pickup Artist (PUA) community, documenting the lifestyle and methods of well-known PUAs of the time. Strauss personally tested the techniques he encountered in the book, and his accounts included a combination of academic observation and humorous anecdotes. This made the book a blockbuster, instantly reaching the New York Times Best Seller list.
The success of “The Game” allowed Strauss to expand his career. He followed up the book with a three-part series, “Rules of the Game,” which provided guidance on how to successfully “seduce” others through the art of pick-up. He has also given lectures and released audio courses on the same topics.
In addition to “The Game” and “Rules of the Game”, Strauss has written many other books and articles. His other books include “Emergency: This Book Will Save Your Life” and “Everyone Loves You When You’re Dead (And Other Things I Learned from the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, Radiohead, and Others).” His articles have been published in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, Wired, and The New Yorker.
In 2018, Strauss released his latest book called “The Truth: An Uncomfortable Book about Relationships.” In this book, he articulates a new approach to relationships, one based on vulnerability and honesty. The book encourages readers to cultivate more meaningful and intimate relationships.
Neil Strauss has achieved a great deal in the worlds of relationships and writing. From his groundbreaking “The Game,” to his thoughtful advice in “The Truth”, Neil Strauss remains an influential figure in the realm of relationships. His works have been and continue to be valuable resources to those looking to understand, practice, and master the art of pick-up and successful relationships.
