Peter Buffett

Peter Buffett is a successful artist, producer, and author whose work spans multiple creative disciplines. He is the son of legendary investor Warren Buffett, and his work has drawn from his upbringing to tell stories with both universal and personal appeal.

Born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 4, 1958, Peter’s parents instilled in him a strong sense of personal responsibility and entrepreneurial spirit. This led to him attending the St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York for his undergraduate degree, where he graduated in 1980 with a degree in political science. Upon graduation, he was accepted to the Yale School of Management, from where he graduated in 1983 with an MBA in finance and marketing.

After graduation, Peter worked as a banking analyst for Salomon Brothers in New York City and then as a consultant at Morgan Stanley. However, his entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to work on a variety of creative projects while maintaining his finance background. He worked on music videos, PBS videos, and television commercials during the mid-1980s.

Peter achieved commercial success in the late 1980s with his songwriting and production work when he collaborated on Jimmy Buffett’s hit single “Pink Flamingo” and his album “Hotels & Motels.” Later, in the mid-1990s, he and his sister, Susie Buffett, created an independent record label, Narada Productions.

In 1999, Peter wrote and produced the award-winning music for the Disney animated film “The Tigger Movie.” He went on to receive two Academy Awards nominations for his compositions for two other Disney films.

Peter has also created several nonfiction works, including the autobiographical book “Life Is What You Make It” and “Life Is What You Make of It: Make Your Life Extraordinary.” In the books, he shares his story as a “pioneer in creativity” and how he drew on his personal experiences to develop his incredibly successful career and further the legend of the Buffett name.

In addition to books, music and television, Peter has also ventured into theater. He is the composer and lyricist of “The North Star,” an adaptation of the novel “The Little Prince.” Peter’s theatrical works have been produced in venues all around the world, including London’s West End and the Lincoln Center in New York.

Peter’s ongoing legacy of creative achievement is as diverse as it is engaging. His success has been rooted in his drive to turn personal experiences into projects that entertain a worldwide audience. Whether it’s his family’s history, his inclination towards music and art, or his passion for helping others, Peter Buffett has crafted a career with staying power.
