Parker is the founding director of Thrive Labs, LLC, a consultancy that works with companies, organizations, and individuals to create meaningful meetings and events.

Born in 1980 in Washington, DC, Parker grew up in a multicultural family. Her parents were Indian immigrants and she was raised by her grandmother, who she says was her first teacher in life. As a young adult, Parker attended the University of Virginia where she received her B.A. in Theater and Psychology. After college, she founded and ran a theater program for children and their families, and eventually worked as a marketing executive for a healthcare startup.

Parker’s experiences in the workplace and her studies of neuroscience, sociology, and anthropology sparked her interest in group dynamics. She also attended a Quaker retreat which greatly impacted her outlook on life. Here, she learned about the importance of silence and stillness. She began to develop her own transformative skills and techniques for designing meetings, seminars, and retreats that would lead to meaningful and productive outcomes.

In 2012, Parker founded Thrive Labs to use her knowledge of group dynamics to help companies, organizations, and individuals create meaningful experiences. She also launched her own leadership platform, which focuses on helping people create experiences that foster increased trust, collaboration, and productivity.

Her first book, The Art of Gathering: How We Meet and Why It Matters was published in 2018 by Penguin Random House. In this book, Parker examines the science and art of group dynamics, and reveals practical and innovative strategies to create meaningful meetings and events.

In her second book, The Power of Off Script: How Innovative Leaders Shape History, Parker explores the power of improvisation in groups and the impact of taking an “off script” approach to leadership. She discusses the importance of strong listening skills, the ability to empathize, and the power of taking risks when needed for creative solutions.

Through her books, lectures, and conferences, Parker has become an influential figure in the field of conflict resolution and relationship building. She is an advisor for several organizations around the world, and has been featured in multiple publications, including Forbes and The New York Times. Through her work, she demonstrates that a little creativity and risk-taking can greatly enhance group experiences.

Priya Parker is a pioneering thinker, author, and facilitator who has shown the world the power of creating meaningful and powerful experiences. She has provided the tools and guidance necessary to turn any gathering into a transformative experience.
