Robert E Quinn was born in Elmhurst, Illinois. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois and a master’s degree in organizational behavior from the University of Chicago. After college, he worked in the corporate world as a strategy consultant, helping companies develop and execute business plans. He then returned to Millikin University, where he taught organizational behavior and leadership.

In 2003, Quinn published his first book, “Deep Change: Discovering the Leader Within”.
