Robert G. Hagstrom
Robert G. Hagstrom is an American author and investor best known for his books on investing and business strategy. He has written several best sellers that have sold over a million copies and been translated into over 25 languages. He has a long and impressive career in the world of finance and investing, making him a well-respected voice in the industry.
Hagstrom was born in 1950 in Philadelphia and grew up in Media, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at Pennsylvania State University and completed his Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. He then enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania where he completed his Master’s degree in 1975 and his Doctorate in Business Administration in 1978.
Hagstrom’s fascination with finance began in college where he took a course in financial analysis. From then on, he was hooked and started his career with a small investment firm in Philadelphia. After a few years there, he moved on to become a research associate at the Fidelity Magellan Fund. His career continued in the investment world and eventually he became the chairman and CEO of his own hedge fund, the Equity Strategies Research Fund in 1987.
During his years as a developer and investor, Hagstrom became increasingly involved in researching and analyzing the stock market and capital markets. He then decided to write books on these topics which proved to be very popular. His first book, The Warren Buffett Way, released in 1995, was a runaway success, selling more than a million copies around the world within a year of its release. This book was followed by The Warren Buffett Way Investment Workbook and Investment Flyers, both of which also became bestsellers.
In addition to his books on investing, Hagstrom has also written thought-provoking books on leadership, strategy, and corporate governance. His book Leading Up: The Challenge of Leading in a Connected World was released in 2005 and explores the intricacies of successful leadership in the digital world. Other books include The Warren Buffett Portfolio and The Warren Buffett Manager which offer readers insights into the investing strategies of Warren Buffett.
