Robert Munsch, a Canadian author known for his vivid and humorous children’s stories, is one of the most beloved children’s authors in the world. Born on June 11, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Robert Munsch grew up with four sisters and would eventually attend the University of Saskatchewan for his undergraduate degree, the University of Toronto for his Master’s degree, and Harvard University for his PhD.

Munsch worked as a teacher in the 1970s, when his interest in children’s literature began to blossom. He was a firm believer in the power of storytelling and made a point of not just reading to his students, but also listening to their stories as well. After years of making up stories for extra money and to entertain his own children, Munsch decided to turn his hobby into a career and wrote his first book, “When Something Terrible Happens”, in 1979. In addition to his written works, Munsch has also produced several audio recordings of him performing his stories for children. Munsch considered his job as an author to not only entertain children, but also to teach them life lessons.
