Scott Wapner

Scott Wapner is a New York Times bestselling author and the host of CNBC's Fast Money Halftime Report. He has written several books about the stock market and the financial world, including The Great Hedge Fund Fraud: How Investors Lost Billions and the How Wall Street Got Away With It.

Born in Philadelphia in 1965, Wapner attended the University of Pennsylvania and majored in English literature. After completing his studies, he worked as a writer and editor at The Wall Street Journal, writing extensively on the financial world and the markets. He then made the switch to television in 2002, becoming a regular analyst on CNBC’s Kudlow & Cramer and Squawk Box.

In 2008, Wapner became the co-host of CNBC’s Fast Money Halftime Report, where he provides viewers with up-to-the-minute stock market news and analysis. He has hosted the show since its debut in June 2008 and has interviewed some of the biggest names in the business world, including Warren Buffett and Bill Ackman.

In addition to his television work, Wapner has written several bestselling books about Wall Street and the financial markets. His first book, The Great Hedge Fund Fraud: How Investors Lost Billions and the How Wall Street Got Away With It, was published in 2012 and made the New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. In it, Wapner examines two of the biggest financial frauds in history, highlighting how poor regulation allowed them both to occur and why investors cannot trust Wall Street.

Wapner is also the author of When the Wolves Bite: Two Billionaires, One Company, and an Epic Wall Street Battle, which was released in 2017. In this book, Wapner tells the story of David Einhorn and Bill Ackman's battle over Herbalife, which culminated in a settlement between the two billionaires after several years of bitter fighting and an investigation by the FBI and US Federal Trade Commission.

Wapner’s latest book is The Man With the Plan, which was released in 2021. This book tells the story of hedge fund manager David Tepper, who made a fortune during the Great Recession and has since become one of the most successful hedge fund managers of all time.
