Stephen Joseph

Stephen Joseph is a prolific and influential contemporary author who has written books in a range of genres, including contemporary fiction, historical fiction, non-fiction and children’s literature. He is best known for his novels “The Shadow Man”, “Shadows of the Night” and “The Penitence”.

He was born in London, England in 1967 and grew up in the East End. His parents were middle-class Jewish immigrants who had moved to London in the 1950s. In addition to his writing pursuits, Stephen has also worked as an editor for various publishers and as an instructor for writing courses at various colleges and universities. In recent years, he has lectured on writing, literature and culture all around the world, including in Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States. Stephen has also served as the judge for several prestigious literary awards, including the Man Booker Prize.
