Terry Hayes

Terry Hayes is a celebrated novelist, screenwriter, and former journalist, best known for his international best-selling thrillers “I Am Pilgrim” and “The New Rules of War”. Born in England in 1953, Hayes stumbled into a career in writing almost by accident, working freelance for a number of small magazines throughout the 1970s. In the 1980s he began working for the British tabloid “The Sun”, eventually becoming incredibly well-known for his success as journalist and a feature writer.

In 1996, Terry Hayes moved to Australia and turned his attention to film. He worked in Los Angeles for several months before founding Bazmark Films, a production company responsible for the release of “Mad Max 3: Beyond Thunderdome”, which would go on to be the fourth highest grossing film of the year. Other film credits include “Payback” in 1999 and “Rocky Balboa” in 2006.

In 2013, Hayes announced his return to writing with the release of his first novel “I Am Pilgrim”. The novel follows the story of a retired secret agent, Scott Murdoch, as he faces his toughest mission yet: finding and stopping a highly dangerous terrorist attack. The book became a huge success, becoming an international bestseller and eventually adapted into a film starring Bradley Cooper and Robert De Niro.

In 2016, Hayes released his second novel “The New Rules of War”, a military thriller about a race against time to prevent an international conflict where the stakes have never been higher. The novel quickly became a favorite among readers and it was nominated for the 2018 Edgar Award for Best Novel.

Terry Hayes’ most recent novel is “The Death Trust”, released in May of 2020. Set in the United Kingdom, the novel tells the story of a group of people recruited by the mysterious “The Death Trust” to execute a daring heist. With shades of the Bourne Identity, the novel has garnered praise for its suspenseful writing and unpredictable storyline.

Beyond his novels, Hayes is also a highly sought-after scriptwriter, having worked on scripts for films such as “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation”, “Edge of Tomorrow” and “A Wrinkle in Time”.
