Thomas Nichols is an American novelist known for writing thrillers and horror fiction. Nichols was born and raised in northeast Ohio, and developed a love of horror and suspense fiction at an early age. After graduating from college in 1988, he began writing short stories and novels. His first novel, Midnight Book Club, was published in 1994 and quickly became a cult classic among horror fans. The novel follows a group of university students exploring the dark history of their local library and its notorious former head librarian.

The success of Midnight Book Club established Nichols as a popular writer of horror fiction. Between 1998 and 2003, he wrote the bestselling trilogy Salt & Light, a gripping crime fiction saga set in the Midwest and California. The series’ intense characters and masterful, twisty plot made it a favorite amongst readers.

In 2009, Nichols released his fifth novel, The Reaper’s Blade. The novel is a mix of horror and historical fiction, set in Kansas in 1865 during the Plains wars. The book received rave reviews and won numerous awards, including the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel.

Nichols followed up on The Reaper’s Blade with several short stories and novellas, including ‘Thrillseekers and Fools’, ‘The House That Bleeds’, and ‘Mister G’. He also released a stand-alone thriller, Come the Madness, in 2013.

Nichols’ writing style is characterized by suspenseful storytelling, often blending elements of horror and the supernatural. His writing often features moral ambiguity, as characters grapple with difficult choices. He has also explored themes of faith and spirituality in his fiction, which can often found lurking in unexpected places.
