Tim Sanders
Tim Sanders is a New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, and lecturer based in Los Angeles. Sanders is the founder of Sanders Speaking LLC and author of Love is the Killer App: How to Win Business and Influence Friends, a book about humanizing business.
Sanders was born in Dallas, Texas on August 25, 1968. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Texas at Dallas, where he graduated cum laude in 1992. After college, Sanders was hired by the global consulting firm McKinsey & Company as a strategy consultant for two years. In 1997 he joined the digital division at Global Communication Partners (GCP) and was quickly promoted to Vice President of Marketing. He was then recruited to Yahoo as its Head of Global Direct-Response Marketing and was promoted to Chief Solutions Officer, making him the first executive to bring both strategics and analytics to Yahoo’s marketing mix.
After leaving Yahoo in 2001, Sanders founded the independent consultancy firm NetPercentage, where he served as CEO until its acquisition in 2007 by BridgePath Media. Following the acquisition, Sanders joined BridgePath's board of directors and ventured into the world of book writing and speaking engagements.
Tim Sanders’ first book, Love is the Killer App: How to Win Business and Influence Friends, was a New York Times bestseller and winner of the 800 CEOReader Award for strategy. The book examines the concept of business relationships as a competitive advantage and introduces his Human Value Principle: being more helpful to your colleagues and clients than the competition. Sanders has since followed up on this work with Dealstorming: The Secret Weapon that Can Solve Your Toughest Sales Challenges and Saving the World at Work: What Companies and Individuals Can Do to Go Beyond Making a Profit.

Currently, Sanders is a lecturer at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and a faculty lecturer at the University of California, San Diego’s Rady School of Management. He is also a member of the board of directors at LeadingAge, a nonprofit organization with a mission to expand the world of possibilities for age-friendly communities. In 2020, he was inducted into the Professional Speaker Hall of Fame.
