Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1966, Tom Merritt began his writing career as a freelance journalist. While studying at the University of Michigan, he got his first big break when he wrote a series on the future of the music industry. This led to further freelance work in various publications, including Rolling Stone magazine. After moving to Los Angeles in the late nineties, Tom began working in film and television, writing technology-based episodes for Star Trek.
