Born in Detroit, Michigan in 1966, Tom Merritt began his writing career as a freelance journalist. While studying at the University of Michigan, he got his first big break when he wrote a series on the future of the music industry. After moving to Los Angeles in the late nineties, Tom began working in film and television, writing technology-based episodes for Star Trek.
