Trevor Noah

Trevor Noah is a South African comedian, political commentator, and television host. He is best known as the host of The Daily Show, a late night political satire program on Comedy Central. He has been hosting the show since 2015, and has since established a strong following worldwide due to his witty and outspoken nature.

Born Trevor John Noah on February 20, 1984, in Johannesburg, South Africa, to a South African mother and a Swiss father, Noah faced discrimination growing up in a society where it was illegal for whites and blacks to intermarry. Though his parents separated when he was young, Noah’s mother encouraged him to pursue a career in comedy despite his young age. His mother was also the one to encourage him to keep going when people told him he was too young and inexperienced to enter the comedy world.

Noah first gained recognition in South Africa in 2002 by winning the third season of a comedy competition. After the show, Noah started honing his comedy and slowly gained a following throughout the country. He released his debut comedy special in 2008 titled "The Daywalker," which earned him nationwide recognition in South Africa.

In 2011, Noah moved to America and received international recognition when he was invited to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He made another appearance on the show in 2014, which helped garner him an audition for The Daily Show. He won the position and ever since, The Daily Show has seen great success with his sharp and intelligent take on political issues.

In addition to hosting The Daily Show, Noah has also appeared on other programs such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live. His regular appearances on various shows, as well as various award-winning comedy specials, have earned him recognition as one of the most influential comedians of the 21st century.

Apart from TV, Noah has also written a best-selling memoir titled "Born a Crime," with its inspiring tale of overcoming the racial hierarchies of South Africa. The book was released in 2016 and was a major success, quickly becoming a #1 New York Times Best Seller. The success of the book is due to its powerful blend of comedy and tragedy, plus Noah’s ability to open up about his experience growing up during the atrocities of Apartheid.

In addition to his TV and book projects, Noah is also an active philanthropist and a passionate advocate for social change. He was awarded the 2020 Muhammad Ali Humanitarian Award for Social Change due to his unwavering dedication to making a change in the world.

Trevor Noah’s career is an inspiring tale of resilience, intelligence, and determination. His success in comedy and writing, as well as his contributions to social change, have earned him global recognition making him one of the most renowned contemporary figures in comedy.
