In 2011, Burns’ “The Rose and the Minotaur” was released to much critical acclaim and was the recipient of the British Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel.

The latter part of Burns’ career has seen him take on a variety of styles, with some of his books exploring more horror and science fiction and others exploring more traditional fantasy. In 2018, Burns released one of his more unique and entertaining books, “The Geometry of Doom”. In the book, technology and madness come together in a thrilling and thought-provoking story.
