Zack Exley is the author of the acclaimed books Rules For Revolutionaries: The Capitalist Manifesto for Creating and Marketing New Products and Services, and The Grassroots, Geeks, Pros, and Pols: The Final and Complete Guide to Online Political Campaigning. Exley has written extensively about marketing, technology and social movements and is an active strategist, entrepreneur, and investor.
Exley’s career in politics, lobbying, and marketing began in the 1990s. As a lobbyist, he was a key figure in campaigns for environmental and labor causes. His experience in political communication blended with his interest in technology, allowing him to transition into a digital media career.
In the early 2000s, Exley founded Geekcorps and Revolution101, two organizations that provided graduate students from North America and Europe the opportunity to work with technology-related development projects in Africa. Later, Exley helped build the technology platform for Wellstone Action, a political organization that works to train candidates, activists, and organizations for progressive and inclusive political leadership.
