Curt Coffman is a renowned author, speaker, and industry thought leader. He has become a powerful voice in business and management circles, providing guidance to organizations and affecting widespread change. A graduate of Harvard Business School and seasoned executive, Dr. Coffman has authored several books and developed the innovative GROW model.

Coffman’s personal journey began in the Midwest, the son of a minister. His parents taught strong values of integrity, respect, and hard work, values that would shape him throughout his life. After studying history and pre-medicine at college, Coffman pursued a PhD in Organizational Behavior at Harvard University, where he also taught for a period.

In 1984, Coffman joined the newly-formed The Gallup Organization as the executive vice-president. He was promoted to president and eventually CEO of the organization, working there for 17 years. During this period, he wrote two landmark books on managing people and companies: “First Break All The Rules: What the World’s Greatest Managers Do Differently” and “Now, Discover Your Strengths”.

At The Gallup Organization, Coffman developed the GROW Coaching Model to assist individuals, teams, and companies in their development and growth. The model is based on goal setting, reality, options and will. This model seeks to provide a framework for a more productive and effective working environment by creating a culture of transparency and collaboration. Coffman coined the phrase “People can be more productive in comfort than stress” and he has been carrying that philosophy ever since.

Throughout his career, Coffman has consulted with numerous Fortune 500 companies to develop their strategic objectives, improve performance and transformation, and create growth plans. He has also given a number of talks and lectures to universities and businesses, most notably Harvard Business School and the Wharton School.

In 2003, Coffman left The Gallup Organization to found and become the head of GrowthPlay, an executive coaching and consulting business. Since then, he has worked with a variety of companies and organizations to help ensure their success. He also wrote a book on leadership, “Leadership on the Line”, which addresses the challenges and opportunities found in situations of high risk and reward.
