Gavin de Becker was born in November of 1952 in Hollywood, California, where he grew up in a middle-class Jewish household. From a young age, de Becker was fascinated by the potential of psychology, and while still in high school, he was already interviewing celebrities, psychiatrists, and other experts. He received several awards throughout his education, and upon graduating university, he quickly joined the UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) psychiatry department to continue honing his craft.

At UCLA, de Becker began studying topics such as criminal behavior and its correlation to violence. He quickly became well known for his prediction models, which included analyzing the level of aggression in individuals, anticipating behaviors, and identifying danger before it happened. After his tenure at UCLA drew to a close, de Becker used his knowledge and experience to work as a consultant for the U.S. government and the entertainment industry, which provides him with valuable insight into the ins-and-outs of security.

In 1994, de Becker wrote his most famous work, The Gift of Fear, which highlighted the importance of intuition and how it can help us in our everyday lives. This book became an international best-seller. It revealed how our intuition can help us detect danger, even in the most unexpected situations.

One of de Becker's primary themes in his work is to eliminate fear from our lives. He believes that if we can better understand the fundamental principles of interpersonal violence, then we can learn how to anticipate and eliminate fear and danger in our lives. He passionately argues that we are naturally "wired" to the signs and signals of potential danger, and this connection is a survival weapon if we learn to use it effectively.

In 2000, de Becker released his next major work, Protecting the Gift, which is focused on teaching parents, children, and communities about empowering themselves through fear and learning about safety and security.

In 2003, de Becker wrote Fear Less, which focuses on discovering the strategies and strategies for dealing with fear. It outlines how we can best tackle fear, both in our personal lives and in our professional lives. Throughout his work, de Becker encourages us to trust our instincts and learn from our mistakes.

De Becker's work has been hailed as groundbreaking, and he has become a respected and much sought after speaker on human behavior and fear. He is passionate about helping others to not only understand their own behavior and emotions, but also to learn how to manage and protect themselves from potential threats.

Gavin de Becker's books and ideas have resonated with many people over the years, and his message remains relevant, even today. He continues to inspire and teach others about security, safety, and the power of our own intuition.
