Harlan Coben

Harlan Coben is one of America's most celebrated crime and suspense novelists, with more than 70 million books sold in over forty countries. He's one of the few authors to have achieved bestseller status in both the mystery and thriller genres, writing page-turners that combine smart and sometimes unexpected plot twists with a thoughtful exploration of relationships, secrets, and loyalty.

Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1962, Coben attended Amherst College and graduated from Rutgers University in 1983 with a degree in political science. He went on to pursue a law career before deciding to focus on developing his writing career. His first book, Play Dead, was published in 1990 and immediately caught the attention of critics and readers alike. The novel introduced the character Myron Bolitar, a former basketball player and former sports agent who often finds himself embroiled in dangerous and mysterious cases. The novel was nominated for the Anthony Award for Best First Novel and earned Coben a loyal following that quickly grew with each new Myron Bolitar novel.

Since the publication of Play Dead, Coben has become one of the most prolific names in crime fiction. His other Myron Bolitar books include Darkest Fear, Drop Shot, Fade Away, and Promise Me. He has also authored several stand-alone thrillers and crime fiction works, including No Second Chance; Tell No One; Just One Look; Long Lost; and Miracle Cure. His books often focus on contemporary social topics and controversies, such as terrorism, kidnapping, domestic abuse, and espionage, as well as more emotional subjects like betrayal, loyalty, and love.

In 2006, Coben published The Woods, which won several prestigious awards including the 2018 Anthony Award for Best Hardcover Novel and the 2018 Edgar Award for Best Novel. This mystery-thriller tells the story of Paul Copeland, a prosecutor in New Jersey who is dealing with the discovery of his childhood best friend's remains and with revelations about his own family's secrets. The novel was later adapted for a feature film starring Daniel Craig.

Coben's most recent works include the thrillers The Stranger and Run Away, as well as the novel Home. His newest book, Win, is a stand-alone novel that follows the story of protagonist Nap Carter, a washed-up football star-turned-private investigator, who struggles to uncover the secrets behind his sister's disappearance.

In addition to his work as an author, Coben has written and produced several television crime-dramas like The Five, Safe, and Harlan Coben's The Stranger. He has also released audiobooks, graphic novels, and short stories. Coben's novels have been translated into nearly forty languages, and he continues to be praised as one of the leading crime-fiction authors of our time.
