Jon Taffer
Jon Taffer is a renowned author, entrepreneur and media personality best known for his or her starring role in the global reality TV series Bar Rescue. A successful business executive whose name is synonymous with growth and revitalization, Taffer continues to help hundreds of small businesses increase in profitability and expand their operations. He is also the author of several bestselling books, such as Raise the Bar: An Action-Based Method for Maximum Customer Reactions and the forthcoming Book of Nonsense.
The son of a Jewish carpenter, Taffer was raised in New York and attended the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. After graduating and starting his own hospitality consulting business, Taffer moved to Las Vegas and became the manager of a resort and casino. After leading this small but successful operation, Taffer formed his own hospitality company in 1996 and also began to serve as a consultant for corporations, such as Ernst & Young and the Strategic Meeting Alliance.
In 2011, Spike TV tapped Taffer to star in his own reality television show, Bar Rescue. Since its debut, the show has aired over 120 episodes with Taffer helping struggling bars, taverns, and nightclubs all over the United States. In each episode, Taffer and his team analyze the operations of a business and then provide solutions to help improve sales and increase customer satisfaction.
Taffer has also authored several motivational books. His 2013 book, Raise the Bar, focuses on providing owners of small businesses with actionable advice to help turn around their failing business and stay competitive in challenging economic times. In this book, Taffer emphasizes the importance of constant innovation and creating an environment that encourages customer feedback. He also stresses the importance of teaching teambuilding and communication skills to employees.
In 2021, Taffer released the Book of Nonsense, which is a humorous look at how to thrive in a world where nothing makes sense—such as the modern world. Taffer writes about topics such as self-sabotage, not giving up, and creating a positive mindset. He also humorously touches on topics that make even experienced entrepreneurs quiver, such as cyber security, emerging payment technologies, and data protection.
